Dr. Omkar Jani received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Honours from the University of South Carolina, Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology with specialization in Solar Photovoltaic Science and Engineering, and completed his post-doctoral fellowship from the Institute of Energy Conversion, University of Delaware.
Omkar is currently the President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for solar cell and PV module technology as a part of the 'New Energy' initiative by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). He is responsible for ensuring RIL's technological leadership in PV technology.
Prior to RIL, Omkar was the Managing Director of Kanoda Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. Kanoda is a technology and innovation-driven solar power systems & plants design and engineering company. Earlier, Omkar served as the Principal Research Scientist at Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI), where he initiated several renewable energy programs. Today, GERMI is recognized among the leading solar energy institutes of India.
