An experimental chemist by training, Akanksha contributes to ongoing work on rooftop solar and energy storage at the Council on Energy, Environment and Water. At The Council, she has contributed to the development of a tool to assess the monetary value of integrating rooftop solar with the grid. She is currently conceptualizing an end-of-life assessment and management of PV modules, and critical mineral assessment of batteries.
Interdisciplinary research including material, analytical, and environmental science is Akankshas forte. Before joining The Council, she was a postdoctoral researcher at ESICB, Kyoto University, where she was developing new photocatalytic routes for organic synthesis. Having experienced the influence of national and organisational policies on scientific research, she has developed a keen interest in the public policy domain.
