Sagar Gubbi (Mr.) is the Co-founder/Managing Partner of Ecoforge Advisors, an investment advisory and consulting firm focused on clean energy, energy efficiency and energy access. Sagar has over 13 years of experience in clean energy (utility-scale and decentralized), energy efficiency, rural electrification/energy access, microfinance and engineering. Sagar (and Ecoforge Advisors) have worked on clean energy and energy access projects in India, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia), Mongolia, and Papua New Guinea.
Prior to founding Ecoforge Advisors, Sagar has lived, studied, and worked in Germany, UK, and Portugal. A few of Sagarâs notable transaction advisory assignments include a US$95 Million pre-IPO investment in a Thai clean energy project developer in 2017, and due diligence, valuation and transaction structuring advise for the Asian Development Bankâs debt (2015) and equity (2013) investments into Simpa Networks, an India-based pay-as-you-go solar provider.
A few notable consulting assignments include developing a roadmap and strategy document for the International Solar Alliance promoted by the Government of India, concept development and financial structuring for mini-grid based energy access programs in Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, and microfinance for energy access programs in Tajikistan, Uganda, and Ethiopia. Sagar has also developed Green Climate Fund (GCF) concept notes and proposals. Sagar holds an MBA with distinction from the University of Oxfordâs Said Business School.
