Saptak Ghosh is a Senior Policy Specialist at CSTEP and is leading the domain of RE & EE. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering (BE) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (R.V. College of Engineering, Bengaluru 2006) and a master's of science (MSc) degree in Sustainable Energy Technology (Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, 2011). His areas of expertise include technology and policy analyses of rooftop solar, ground-mounted solar and wind, waste management infrastructures, innovative system designs in energy and industry, energy Policy and energy efficiency in industries. His professional experience of nearly a decade in the renewables sector allows him to bring deep knowledge and expert insights to any table.
He has conceptualized, led and implemented the first-of-its kind innovative aerial Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) based rooftop solar potential assessment for each building in Bengaluru. He is closely involved with the Energy Departments and DISCOMs of Karnataka and Bihar in shaping rooftop implementation strategy to achieve respective state targets. He has also contributed in the development of CSTEP's RE Atlas which allows any state in India to use a GIS visualization platform and choose suitable sites for ground-mounted solar and wind projects based on a multi-criteria analysis framework. Presently, he is working on using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to carry out rooftop potential assessment studies in several cities in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
