40 GW out of the 100 GW of India's solar installation target by 2022 is to come from Rooftop Solar. According to MNRE, the actual total installed rooftop capacity in India stood at about 6.7 GW as of March 2022. Given its distributed nature and smaller scale compared to utility scale projects, rooftop solar segment is a hotbed for startups and has the potential to create thousands of jobs. In this session, we look at the

  • Challenges include grid connectivity, policy uncertainties like Net-metering policies, quality issues and maintenance issues
  • Opportunities for scaling the residential, commercial and industrial rooftop solar segments.
